Policies

  • As a publication of the Interprofessional Academy of Educators (IAE) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), the Innovations in Health Sciences Education Journal (IHSEJ) is currently only accepting manuscripts for review that at least one author is a member of the IAE. Please check back, as we may expand our scope to include non-IAE members at UNMC, or members of similar IAE organizations at other institutions.
  • Editors will determine the suitability of submissions for IHSEJ. If the manuscript passes editorial review, it will advance to single-blind peer review.
  • IHSEJ will publish the following types of manuscripts: Original Reports, Case Reports, Letters to the Editor, and Creative Works. Detailed guidelines for each manuscript type are available in the Manuscript Preparation Guidelines section.
  • IHSEJ follows the ethical principles concerning evaluating, improving, and publishing manuscripts in medical journals and the relationships between editors, authors, peer reviewers, and the media put forth by the following organizations:
  • International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE)

    Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)

    World Association of Medical Editors (WAME)

    Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT)

    Transparent Reporting of Evaluations with Nonrandomized Designs (TREND)

    Standards for Quality Improvement Reporting (SQUIRE)

  • IHSEJ conforms to the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) funding model in that all content is freely available to individuals and institutions without an embargo period. Users may "read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of the articles."
  • There are no submission or publication charges associated with placing your work in IHSEJ.

    This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License .
  • IHSEJ will not consider manuscripts that are under review for publication elsewhere. However, IHSEJ encourages the submission of work based on class projects, theses, and dissertations, conference posters or presentations, and other dissemination formats that are not peer-reviewed journal publications.
